Open House 2005
On
April 19th, 2005, Project STEP hosted its open house for the year 2004-2005.
The purpose of the open house was to showcase the project materials and
activities to Ohio and Northern Kentucky educators. Invitation brochures
were mailed out, and the fellows, participating secondary teachers, and
university faculty members were present. The fellows presented posters
of their work during the year and also gave a presentation.

Nick's
poster presented a lesson called 'Geomtey Mystery Series' where
Trigonometry relations were addressed as well as a derivative
form of angle of elevation was covered. |

In the 'Planes, Trains
and Automobiles' poster presented by Mike, students use concepts
of algebra and geometry to design a transportation system to meet
the needs of a city. |

The 'Coca Cola Challenge'
was lesson on Michelle's poster. It provided students with an
interesting way to learn about mass, volume and density through
the use of coke. |

Amy presented her
lesson called 'Geometry of Cosmetology' in which the students
learn to perform a haircut using protractors to measure angles.
Hence teaching them the importance of Geometry. |

'Everyday Genetic
Engineering' was the lesson that Bethany presented on her poster.
It gives the students an introduction to genetic engineering and
the impact it has on society. |
