Biography
I am currently finished with my coursework for my Master’s and am beginning a meta-analysis for my Master’s project.
While my educational focus is in cognition, my project focuses on the introduction of study skills to students at an
age younger than undergraduate, or before they are labeled “at-risk”. My theory is that earlier introduction of these
study skills could improve the quality of a child’s education overall and potentially encourage their pursuit of higher
education.
The past 17 years of my life have been spent in education – in one aspect or another. In a nutshell, I have:
• Instructed non-traditional post-secondary learners in English grammar, business writing, speech,
personal communications, study skills, and vocational studies
• Worked in Special Education: teaching children and young adults with autism, as well as teaching ESL and accent
reduction to foreign dignitaries and their families, and tutoring “at-risk” (mostly ESL) students in the CPS
• Acted as environmental and quality auditor, consultant, and trainer for organizations throughout the United States
and Canada, with a brief stint in aerospace quality auditing
On a personal note, I was recently married (5.26.07) and my husband I (and our four black cats!) are here in
Cincinnati for two more years while he completes his surgical residency at Jewish Hospital in Kenwood. Following
that, it is our hope, at least, to return to the metro Detroit area which I call home. My interests include photography,
gardening & plants (we have a small greenhouse at home), reading, and all aspects of needlework.
