Biography
Kelly Obarski is the coordinator for the NSF STEP project. She is currently a doctoral
candidate and will begin collecting her dissertation data during the winter of 2005.
She will graduate from the University of Cincinnati with an EdD in curriculum and instruction,
with emphasis in teacher education and science education. Before enrolling as a doctoral
student at the University of Cincinnati, Kelly taught high school science (biology, physical
science, and anatomy & physiology) for 5 years at West High and Hughes Center in the Cincinnati
Public School district. Kelly had been a curriculum council delegate for 3 years in CPS and
has worked extensively with beginning teachers in her classroom. Kelly also currently teaches
secondary education classes at the University of Cincinnati. She is also currently the program
manager for UTLA (Urban Teacher Leader Academy), a collaboration between UC and CPS to develop
teacher leaders in Cincinnati Public Schools.
