Biography
Jack Galloway is a second year graduate student finishing his Masters
degree in nuclear engineering this December and starting his Ph. D. work
the following January, also in nuclear engineering. This year is his first
year working with project STEP and has been assigned to Western Hills
Design and Technology School, where he is excited to be working. Some
of Jack's main interests are nuclear engineering (as expected), education,
activities at his local church and ultimate frisbee. Jack hopes that through
his work with the STEP program he can influence students lives to have
a greater interest and excitement in maths, sciences and technology hopefully
leading to some students going on to college in engineering programs (it's
ok if it's not nuclear too). Most of the research that Jack is involved
with relates to the handling of nuclear waste and trying to find other
options for dealing with the most radioactive aspects of nuclear waste
other than loading it into a mountain. Other than working on his research
and working with project STEP, Jack is involved with a local ultimate
frisbee team in the area where the team travels to various cities to play
tournaments. In addition Jack enjoys volunteering at his church in whatever
fashion is needed at the time.
