Dr. Anant Kukreti is the Principal Investigator (PI) and Director of the project and coordinates its implementation. He also served as a Faculty Mentor for the RET research project on ““Buildings that Resist Earthquakes Better”. Dr. Kukreti teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in structural engineering. His research interests include experimental and finite element analysis of linear and nonlinear structural systems, behavior of steel connections, cyclic plasticity problems, sub-structuring procedures, fracture mechanics, constitutive modeling of materials, and modeling for flow through saturated-unsaturated porous media. |

Dr. Sorial is the Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) of the RET Site and also served as a Faculty Mentor for the RET research project on “Availability of Safe Drinking Water.” He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in environmental material balances, aquatic chemistry, and environmental chemistry. His research interests include: activated carbon adsorption, air biofiltration, electrochemical processes, remediation, modeling of mercury speciation, and protocols for US EPA for use of surfactants on oil spills. |

Dr. Lu is the Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) of the RET Site and also served as a Faculty Mentor for the RET research project on “Clean Diesel Technologies for Air Pollutant Reduction.” Her areas of research and teaching include submicron particle and PAH formation mechanisms from combustion processes including diesel, biodiesel, coal, and waste derived fuel, etc.; the compositional characterization of aerosols and gaseous pollutants from industrial, transportation and agricultural sources; development of novel carbon nanomaterials to remove highly toxic bioaccumulative air pollutants; and development of particulate control technologies. |

Eugene Rutz is an Academic Director in the College of Engineering. He manages the College’s combined Bachelors / Masters programs (the ACCEND programs), provides academic advising for the Master of Engineering program, leads the pre-engineering program with local high schools, and coordinates the distance learning activities of the college. Eugene is a registered professional engineer with experience in nuclear power, mechanical design, and applied research. |
