Summary
The relevance of high academic achievement should be relayed to students (i.e. scholarship and fellowship opportunities, admission to post-baccalaureate and graduate programs, average starting salaries for various professions, being in control of your financial and professional future, etc.). Once the students have become interested, the formula for calculating a GPA should be introduced to the students. The students should then complete their handout based on their current grades.

Objectives
Students will understand and carryout the steps necessary to calculate their GPA Students will understand the implications of being in weighted classes Students will understand the importance of class standing as it relates to college admissions and scholarship awards.
