STEP Fellow ShowcaseThe University of Cincinnati STEP (Science and Technology Enhancement Program) Fellow Showcase was held on November 28, 2007. This event allowed each of the five STEP fellows to share the research that each is currently working on as a graduate student as well as the growth and benefits of using this research with high school teachers and students in the Cincinnati area. Over 20 UC faculty members and teachers in both Ohio and Kentucky viewed the STEP Fellow Showcase. As a result of the UC STEP Fellow Showcase both the faculty members and community teachers were made aware of the STEP Fellow research and its impact on the surrounding school systems. Dr. Anant Kukreti, lead primary investigator for Project STEP, encourages interaction between STEP Fellows and all community members to further enhance math, technology, and science learning. The UC STEP Fellow Showcase was just another example of his continued efforts. The showcase presentations and pictures can be viewed on the UC STEP website: http://www.eng.uc.edu/STEP/ Each of the five UC STEP Fellows is using his/her graduate studies engineering research for integration into existing high school math and science classrooms. This unique approach to teaching math and science will hopefully help to establish the nation as a global leader in fundamental transformational science and engineering concepts in local high schools in the Cincinnati area. In addition, the work accomplished by the UC STEP Fellows will help to cultivate a broadly inclusive science and engineering workforce, and expand the literacy of those involved in the program.
