Undergraduate ProgramAbout the ProgramBiomedical Engineering (BME) is an exciting, rapidly growing field, which allows graduates to apply their knowledge and skills to the prevention of injury and disease and to improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of medical disorders. The BME curriculum at UC has two tracks, Biomechanics and Medical Device Innovation. A Premedical option is available in both tracks. Pre-Medicine OptionYou can apply for dual admissions to the UC and the UC College of Medicine through the Connections or ConnectionsE programs. When you meet therequirements of these programs, you are guaranteed a place in medical school upon completion of your BME degree. Students are required to take practical work (co-op) assignments. The first co-op quarter is in the sophomore year. Two curricular options are available, a Standard Option and a Premedical Option. The Standard Option curriculum is shown here. The Premedical Option includes biology in the freshman year and organic chemistry in the pre-junior year.
