T. Douglas Mast, PHD

Assistant Professor

Dr. Mast studied Physics and Mathematics at Goshen College in Indiana, receiving the BA degree. His PhD is from Penn State's Graduate Program in Acoustics, where his doctoral dissertation was "Physical Theory of Narrow-Band Sounds Associated with Intracranial Aneurysms." He trained as a postdoctoral research of associate at the University of Rochester in the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Radiology, researching quantitative ultrasound imaging and tissue characterization for medical diagnosis. Before joining UC in 2004, he was a Research Associate and Assistant Professor of Acoustics at Penn State's Applied Research Laboratory, and subsequently a Senior Scientist at Ethicon Endo-Surgery, a Johnson and Johnson Company. Dr. Mast's current research is in biomedical acoustics including ultrasonic imaging and therapy, with an emphasis on understanding and applying the complex interactions of ultrasound with tissue structure.
