Bioinformatics – My current focus is on Data Analysis aspects of Genome Wide Association Studies, in which the goal is to identify SNPs out of more than 500,000 with significant association with diseases of interest. Tissue Engineering – I am part of a group active in Tissue Engineering problems. My input comes in the form of design and models, especially response surface models with the aim of optimizing certain quantitative characteristics associated with lab-generated tissues. Statistical Genetics – I am developing new statistical methods to test Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in multi-allelic loci. I am also developing new methods applicable in bacterial population genetics in a Forensic Context.
