Jason Shearn, PhD

Assistant Professor

The long term goal of my research program is to improve the clinical success of musculoskeletal soft tissue repair. My work current and future will focus on creating better tissue engineered constructs for implantation and on understanding the mechanical environment for normal, injured and repairing tendons and ligaments. The tissue engineering projects will examine the use of growth factors, which appear during the natural healing cascade and during culture, to improve the construct stiffness and repair outcome, and examine how altering the constituents (cells, scaffold, drugs, etc.) affect repair outcome.
