BME Freshmen socials
Freshman socials help students to get to know their peers and the biomedical engineering faculty. A pizza party or reception, scheduled in fall and winter quarters provides student s the opportunity to give feedback on their first and second quarter experience(s) in the biomedical engineering program and at UC.
Biomedical Engineering Society ( BMES)
The Biomedical Engineering Society supports students in biomedical engineering through a variety of events and activities. Undergraduate students are active in the student chapter of the BMES. For the past two years, members have traveled to the annual BMES meeting. In 2005 they will travel to Philadelphia .

During the spring quarter of 2004, the freshmen class was called to attend a special session to determine their personal preferences using the PERSONAL STYLE INVENTORY Assessment. This assessment was used to help students understand how one performs in an academic and group setting. Tara Stopfel from the Center for Exploratory Studies administered the assessment and conducted a follow up session to show how this works in setting practice. The photo shows the follow up session, in which a group of students built a model using only the tools presented to them, such as plastic cups, paper clips, tacks, etc.
