The Geotechnical Engineering Program interfaces with graduate programs in  Structural, Environmental Engineering and Geology to provide students a wide range of study and research topics.


Program Faculty


Andrew Bodocsi (Professor Emeritus; Ph.D. 1966 University of Cincinnati) Dr. Bodocsi's teaching and research interests include soil & foundation engineering; tiebacks; application of finite element analysis to soils; hazardous waste containment; grouting and slurry walls; and pavement instrumentation and analysis.


Mark T. Bowers (Associate Professor; Ph.D. 1986 Arizona State University) Dr. Bowers' teaching and research interests include excavation support systems; slope stability; earth dam design; geotechnical aspects of waste disposal; and foundation design.

 

Anastasios M. Ioannides (Associate Professor; Ph.D. 1984 University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) Dr. Ioannides teaching and research interests include response modeling for rigid and flexible pavements; pavement behavior and performance data interpretation; development of mechanistic design procedures for pavements; fracture mechanics applications in transportation facilities engineering; finite element analysis; and neural networks.
