Structural Engineering Required Specialty Courses (15 quarter credits)

  • CEE 712 Theory of Structures II

  • CEE 713 Theory of StructuresIII

  • CEE 788 Structural Dynamics I

    In addition, each student must complete either the concrete structures or the metal structures course sequence:

  • CEE 683 Prestressed Concrete*
  • CEE 782 Reinforced Concrete Design I
                       -OR-
  • CEE 786 Metal Structures Design
  • CEE 787 Advanced Structures Design

    * Students who have taken CEE 683 as part of their undergraduate degree at the University of Cincinnati will identify a suitable substitute in consultation with their advisor.

    Structural Engineering Elective Specialty Courses [Select 2 quarter credits (thesis option) or 17 quarter credits (non-thesis option)]

  • CEE 621 Bridge Engineering*
  • CEE 714 Nonlinear Structural Analysis
  • CEE 789 Structural Dynamics II

  • * Students who have taken CEE 621 as part of their undergraduate degree at the University of Cincinnati will identify a suitable substitute in consultation with their advisor. 

    In consultation with their advisor, students may select some of their elective courses in Computer Science, Mathematics, Aerospace and Engineering Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other appropriate areas.  Independent studies in advanced topics may also be arranged.
