Jr. Research Associate (24UC1208)
Location: Civil and Environmental Engineering
Job Desc: Responsible for all phases of research projects, including planning, design, purchasing, fabrication, installation, operation and maintenance. Responsible for maintenance of Civil and Environmental Engineering equipment, operation of student labs and assisting graduate/undergraduate students in pursuit of skills and knowledge. Design, fabricate, set up and maintain scientific laboratory equipment and pilot plants to be used in water, wastewater and air treatment plants. Required familiarity with the following machine tools: engine lathes, grinders, horizontal/vertical mills; extensive knowledge of machine shop tools/equipment including AutoCad/TurboCad Design; and extensive knowledge in working with hydraulic, pneumatic systems and electrical electronic systems, including PLC’s.
Min. Quals: Understanding of broad interdisciplinary issues involving systems as well as good working knowledge and familiarity with instrumentation and control systems, test equipment and methods, electronics, computers, PLCs motors, pumps, and hydraulics. B.S. in civil and environmental engineering with experience in a multidisciplinary background or equivalent education and experience. Experience in electronic and mechanical devices – arc welding and carpentry are highly desirable. Classification: 77
