Professor Bowers' research interest are in Characterization and remediation of contaminated soils; earth retention systems; earth dam design; shallow foundations; buried conduit behavior. His active areas of research are Characterization of the strength properties of lakebed clays, Finite element modeling of earth-retention systems, Determination of the Geotechnical properties of shales in the Greater Cincinnati area, Correlation of settlement and consolidation with Geotechnical parameters for soils in the Greater Cincinnati area.
