Faculty Administering the RET Site

Dr. Anant R. Kukreti
Professor and Head of Department

Dr. Kukreti is the coordinator of all the RET Site activities, and is the faculty mentor for the research project on "Modern Aseismic Design Strategies for Buildings". He is also the coordinator of the engineering related professional development seminars. Dr. Kukreti teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in structural engineering, and his research interests include experimental and finite element analysis of structures, earthquake engineering, and model-based simulation.

Research Faculty Mentors

Dr. George Sorial
Professor of Environmental Engineering
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Dr. Sorial is the faculty mentor for the research project on "Elimination of Persistent Odorous Compounds from Drinking Water." Dr. teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in environmental material balances, aquatic chemistry, and environmental chemistry. His research interests include: activated carbon adsorption, air biofiltration, electrochemical processes, remediation, modeling of mercury speciation, and protocols for US EPA for use of surfactants on oil spills.

Dr. Mingming Lu
Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering

Dr. Lu is the faculty mentor for the research project on "Air Quality Sampling and Analysis." Dr. Lu teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental engineering. For research she has specialized in air sampling and compositional analysis of aerosols, and the characterization of diesel particulate matter.

Dr. Heng Wie
Assistant Professor of Transportation Engineering
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
University of Civil Engineering

Dr. Wie is the faculty mentor for the research project on "Impact Analysis of Traffic Control Infrastructure." Dr. Wei teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in transportation engineering. His research includes ITS, traffic flow characteristics, and microscopic traffic simulation modeling.

Education Professional Development Mentors

Dr. Thaddeus W. Fowler
Emeriti Professor of Education

College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services

Dr. Fowler is the coordinator of the authentic learning related professional development seminars, and the development of the lessons by the teachers with discussions with the NSF GK-12 Fellows working for Project STEP. Dr. Fowler has taught instructional methods courses at UC for 27 years, and has close relationships with many school districts. His administrative positions have included program coordinator, director, and associate division head.

Dr. Suzanne W. Soled
Associate Professor
Educational Foundations Program
College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services
University of Cincinnati

Dr. Soled is the coordinator of the assessment and evaluation related seminars, and she is coordinating all the evaluations of the RET activities. Dr. Soled teaches graduate courses and conducts research in assessment and evaluation, statistics and research methods, and cognitive psychology.
