"The co-op program is probably the most valuable aspect of engineering at UC. Whileon co-op, I am able to see what kinds of jobs are actually
performed by professional civil engineers. Through daily interactions with people in my
own field, as well as a variety of other fields, I am learning what kinds of skills and
cooperation are necessary to complete jobs in the real world. Co-op experiences have
meshed with my class learning to give me a feeling for the importance of having both
textbook and hands-on knowledge. When I take a look at how much I learn while on co-op, it
is hard to believe that I also get paid for my work and responsibilities. Co-op allows me
to bolster my education, and at the same time do real work for a company."
