Information for Prospective Undergraduates

The CME Department offers two undergraduate degree programs: Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering. Both are five years programs in which the students spend the first and fifth years entirely on campus, but during the middle three years they spend two out of every four quarters working in industry obtaining an invaluable amount of practical experience. Both programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Students obtain a basic grounding in each subject qualifying them for further graduate level education or for jobs in industry and government. Through appropriate choice of technical electives, they also have the ability to fine tune their education in areas of specialty, such as polymers, membranes, electronics, environment, metals, biological engineering, biomaterials etc.

Through the Cincinnatus program and others, significant scholarships are available for award to talented students from Ohio and beyond. Many organized opportunities to visit the department exist through the university or college, however we are always pleased to accommodate prospective students and their families with personal visits.
