Dean Montemagno Announces Administrative Appointments

Dean Carlo Montemagno has announced the following administrative appointments:

Dr. Daniel B. Oerther assumed the duties of head of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, effective March 31, 2008.

Since joining the faculty in 2000, Dr. Oerther has established a very successful research endeavor, including an NSF CAREER Award, and has a reputation as an excellent teacher. Dr. Oerther has won numerous honors and awards, including a Fulbright Scholarship (2006). He has been active in community outreach activities, serving as mentor for UC's chapter of Engineers Without Borders.

In making the announcement, Dean Montemagno said, "I look forward to working with Dr. Oerther to strengthen and renew the programs in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, creating a stronger foundation for this most essential of engineering departments."

	Dr. Raj Bhatnagar was named the Interim Head of the Computer Science Department, effective January 2, 2008, as the search for a permanent head resumed.
