e-Quad is the new on-line newsletter serving as an important vehicle for the College of Engineering to maintain regular contact with our valued alumni throughout the world. e-Quad replaces the Quadrangle, which for many years was published in print and sent to alumni through the mail. Budget realities and the ever-increasing popularity of the Internet make electronic publishing a necessary alternative for the College of Engineering at this time.
One of the many advantages of electronic publishing in addition to conserving natural resources is that it lends itself to continuous updating, permitting errors to be corrected quickly and completely. Another advantage is that it opens up linkages to a range of other on-line publications and resources throughout the University of Cincinnati community. This allows alumni to enjoy a broader variety of relevant stories and articles. An example of the benefits of this connectivity is that e-Quad may selectively link to articles of general interest to all UC alumni written by the UC Office of Public Relations.
The College intends to publish e-Quad on a quarterly basis. The College gratefully acknowledges the assistance of the UC Foundation in collecting and maintaining all alumni data and serving as the clearinghouse for distribution of emails. Because the UC Foundation receives many requests to distribute various communications to alumni and must therefore regulate the demand for email communications from many units throughout the University, email notification of e-Quad may vary from quarter to quarter.
Please send us your ideas for stories as well as comments and suggestions for improvement. The College will do its best to listen and respond to the input of our alumni.
