Alumni Engineering Learning Center

The College is constructing a state-of-the-art learning center on the 8th floor of Rhodes Hall that will be the academic home for engineering students during their freshman and sophomore years. This dedicated space along with special features incorporated at the suggestions of students will foster a sense of belonging to the College of Engineering among freshmen and sophomores and deal with the unique challenges facing commuter students.

Designed with input from engineering students, the Alumni Engineering Learning Center will be a pre-eminent teaching and learning facility with classrooms, open study areas, and faculty offices. Students will enjoy immediate access to both the dedicated engineering education faculty in their offices as well as math and science instructors. The area will be able to accommodate 175 students with mobile tables and chairs that can be arranged in various configurations, an experimental classroom where students will provide immediate feedback to the instructor using "clickers", ample white boards, and an inviting coffee-café area. There will be a central administration kiosk housing a receptionist for scheduling. Students will have 24-hour access.
