What is Materials Engineering?Materials Engineering is the study of how materials can be combined in predictable ways to develop new and useful properties. As a Materials Engineer, you can develop the new materials that will advance semiconductor, fiber optic, and aerospace technology. Most aspects of modern technology relate in some way to Materials Engineering. All modern materials, from specialty steels to high performance devices, are carefully engineered to control their properties. These engineered materials fall into four categories-metals and alloys, polymer, ceramics, or combinations of these materials. |
