What is Mechanical Engineering?

Mechanical Engineering is the design of machines and mechanized systems. Mechanical engineers design devices as simple as fishing reels and doorknobs, and also develop complex systems such as airplanes, automobiles, and satellites.

Mechanical engineers are concerned with the principles of force, energy, and motion. Machines generally convert one form of movement into another. As a mechanical engineer you will be responsible for designing machines whose parts and assemblies work in a safe, efficient, and predictable fashion.
