Portable Computing Help - Wireless Network Printing
This section provides directions for setting up a printer on your portable/wireless computer to enable printing to an OCC computer lab laser printer.

Before you can use these instructions, you must have an account for the OCC PC labs. Instructions for obtaining an account can be found at this link showing you how to get an OCC PC Lab Account. And, your portable must have access to UC's wireless network. Instructions for obtaining an account can be found at this link with instructions on how to register and set up your portable for wireless network access.
The User ID you use on your portable must be the same as the User ID you use in the OCC PC Labs. An existing User ID cannot be renamed. A new User ID must be set up with the same User ID as your lab account.
Add Printer Wizard
Open Printers folder. Click on Add Printer and click Next in the Add Printer Wizard Dialog.
Local or Network Printer Dialog
Choose Local printer and uncheck Automatically detect and install my Plug and play printer.
And click Next.
Select a Printer Port
Click Create a new port. Choose LPR port for the Type of Port. (If LPR port is not an option see Adding LPR port directions below) and click Next
Add LPR compatible printer
In Name or address of server providing lpd: Enter Montezuma.occ.uc.edu
In In Name of printer or print queue on the server: enter [Printer Name] where [Printer Name] is one of the names shown below and click OK
Install Printer Software
In the Manufacturer Column on the left choose HP
In the Manufacturer Column on the right choose HP Laserjet 4300 Series PS or HP Laserjet 4300 Series PS (see table below for the correct printer to choose)
and click Next
Use Existing Driver
If this box appears choose Keep Existing Driver and click Next
Name Your Printer
Enter a Name for the Printer. Choose Yes if you want to make this printer the default printer
and click Next
Printer Sharing
Choose Do not share the printer and click Next
Print Test Page
Choose Yes if you want to print a test page and click Next
Completing the Add Printer Wizard
Click Finish

Directions For Adding LPR port
If LPR is not installed on your system it can be installed using the Windows 2000 or Windows XP CD:
- Insert and Activate the Windows 2000/XP CD
- From Option menu choose Install Add-On Components
- From Components menu choose Other Network File and Print Services
- Click next and installation will begin
