"A Century of Realizing Dreams"

The year 2000 is a significant history marker for the University of Cincinnati. Engineering students enrolled for this school year mark the 100th class of students entering the College of Engineering. Events planned for this remarkable year- long celebration are based on the theme "A Century of Realizing Dreams."

The founding father of the Engineering Program was Herman Schneider. Without Herman's dream for a successful co-op program and his dedication to students and education, the College of Engineering would not have become what it is today. And since Herman is a role model for all to follow, we will kick-off the Centennial Celebration with a 100^{th year} birthday party in his honor. The party is Sept. 28th and will be complete with a Dixie Land Band, balloons, and cake.

There will also be a "Centennial Speaker Series" beginning in September. Nationally known engineers, famous alumni, and Ohio Eminent Scholars will present the seminars.

Alumni Day will provide a great opportunity for alumni to share in the excitement of a College football game and a pre-game cookout. Meet and greet your friends and faculty at the Alumni Center for brats, metts, and burgers, then join the cheering section as Cincinnati takes on Houston. In February, there is the annual Engineer's-week. E-week is a time for all students to gather together and participate in various games including the egg-drop contest, tricycle race, and many more fun events. The week is topped off with a dinner dance sponsored by the Engineering Tribunal.

The Distinguished Alumni Dinner is in April this year. The recipients of the award will have the chance to meet students and faculty and share the personal benefits of their career experience.

The Centennial Finale Dinner will mark the end of celebration events. Alumni and friends will join faculty, staff and students in celebrating the renewed Baldwin that will better serve students for a second century.
