Access to Success

Access to Success is the College's established mission to provide access to affordable, experience-enhanced higher education to all qualified persons. Access to Success seeks to accent the College's heritage most visible in the extraordinary success of our alumni/ae. From Joseph Strauss who designed the Golden Gate Bridge to Vinod Dham, father of the Pentium chip, UC Engineering alumni/ae have been involved in many important engineering projects and accomplishments of the past century.

Dean Herman Schneider, Dean of the College in 1906, revolutionized engineering education by implementing the co-op plan. Indeed, most alumni/ae believe that integration of theory and practice embodies the secret to success enjoyed by so many of our graduates. It is an approach to learning that has certainly been copied by many institutions of higher education. Since modern day inception in the UC College of Engineering in 1906, the co-op program is now offered by more than one thousand institutions of higher education throughout the world.

Our graduates have a track record of achievement and accomplishment competitive with graduates of engineering schools throughout the world. We invite you to see for yourself. Learn about some of our select alumni/ae by browsing through the biographies of our Distinguished Alumni/as presented on the left navigation bar. These are real people who live and work in the real world. Better yet, we invite you to come and make your own discoveries.
