Prepare <spell> [mana]

This command will cause your character to begin creating a spell matrix from the available mana in the room.

spell - the name of the spell to be cast

mana - for spells that don't use held power, the amount of power used to create the matrix

Target [target]

This command will place a targetting matrix on an opponent. This matrix will act as a guide to the primary matrix created by the PREPARE verb. Only targetted spells can use a targetting matrix. These are commonly damage-dealing spells.

target - the opponent the targetting matrix is to be placed on. If no target is specified, it defaults to the opponent you are facing.

Cast [target]

Casting releases the energy stored in a spell matrix, manifesting a spell effect.

target - the place that the spell effect is supposed to go. This defaults to the opponent you are facing for damaging spells and yourself for all others. Note that not all spells can be cast on a specific target. Some always affect you, your group, or the entire area.

Release ["mana"/"spell"/amount]

Release is used to stop various magical actions. It defaults to releasing all mana and the spell being prepared.

amount - number of held streams of mana to be released

"spell" - stops prepration of the current spell matrix

"mana" - releases all held streams of mana

Harness [amount]

Harness is used to draw streams of mana around you. When you or someone you are sharing mana with casts a spell, this held power is added to the spell's effect. If no amounnt is specified, harness gives the same information as MANA, but can not be used in RT.

amount - the number of streams to draw around you

Mana

Mana gives information on remaining attunement to the mana around you, as well as how much power is being held around you in the form of mana streams.

Power, Percieve, Concentrate [target]

Percieving allows you to use your magical senses on something. If no target is specified, it defaults to percieving the amount of power in the room, as well as the duration of any spells on you.

target - a specific subject to be percieved

Focus <item>

Focusing is a more intrusive use of magical senses. It requires actual contact with the object. Most of the time, this requires two free hands with the object either on the ground or in your hands. With enough skill, cambrinth can be focused on while worn.

item - the item to be focused on

Charge <item>

Charging an item actually forces power into the item. It has all the same restrictions to use as focusing. Note that charging an object with a mana type that it is not attuned with can be dangerous.

item - the item to be charged

Invoke <scroll>

Invoke is used to temporarily memorize a spell written on a scroll, removing the writing from the scroll in the process. A certain level of attunement must be maintained to keep an invoked spell in memory. Spells can only be invoked if all prereqs are known permanently. Bards, however, can invoke all but the most specialized of spells, regardless of knowledge of prereqs.

scroll - the object the spell is written on

Study <scroll>

Study is similar to INVOKE, but is used to permanently learn a spell. This costs a few TDPs for scroll-only spells and can only be used for spells in your own spell books.

scroll - the object the spell is written on
