The 1989 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe

The first of the new generation T-Birds, the 1989 model was offered in two different styles. The relatively tame LX version impressed few with its stodgy handling and lack of power. However, another version was offered - The Super Coupe. This model was built with thought to performance and comfort.

An intercooled supercharged 3.8 liter V6 was mounted upon a chassis built for driving excitement. It produces a comforting roar while it churns out 210 horsepower and 315 foot-pounds of torque. Perhaps one of Ford's most durable engines, the SC powerhouse makes passing and post 100 speeds seem effortless and simple. Bolted onto a manual five-speed transmission and 2.73:1 rear end, speeds of 150 mph are easily attainable. It stiff air adjustable suspension and speed sensative steering make those high speed curves and straightaways smooth as silk.

The interior is plush as well. With power everything, 10 disc CD changer and leather bucket seats, the SC ranks as one of the nation's most enjoyable cars.
