1) Describe at least one thing you like about this course or professor

  • He is very concerned with the students' learning and general wellfare. He is the type of teacher to bend over backwards to encourage a student to learn the material, and to be generally successful. Knowing what a great professor he was from prevous classes was my primary reason for taking his cource.

  • I liked his teaching style and course materials.

  • I liked the labs associated with the class. I felt that they helped me understand the concepts taught during the lectures. I felt that the Dr. Becauge knew the material of the course and presented it in an understandible manor.

  • The quiz format pressured me to study the class materials from week to week. Plant tours were used to supplement the inadequate lab tools to obtain a comprehensive view of polymer processing.

  • The text is a great reference guide for industry.

  • We went to plants to see the way the companies proceesed plastic. I liked that.

  • the ease and flow of presentation, willingness to listen and be open, weekly quizzes, his knowledge of the material

    2) Describe at least one improvement you feel would benefit this course or professor.

  • Go see more plants, when I can actually attend.

  • I have two suggestions:#1) make the text required. This subject is too complex to learn from the handouts alone, and I felt like I had been missing out when I finally borrowed a copy of the text. #2) More complicated concepts need to be explained more throughly. Generally, in other cources, Dr. Beaucage does this well. The labs helped, but I still felt like I was drowning in a sea of meaningless equations.

  • I think that the rheology should be removed from this course and taught in a differnt class in more detail. I think that purhaps a crash course only lasting a week in rheology would be better for this processing class. Purhaps have the labs start earlier in the quarter so they can be parelled to class material while they are being taught.

  • The course is supposed to be strictly processing so I don't think that the information given that didn't pertain to processing was helpful.

  • labs worth more credit

    3) If your answer to any question between #1 and #17 was `D' or `E', please identify the question number and explain why.
