Free Response Questions

1) Describe at least one thing you like about this course or professor

  • the material was useful

  • I liked that the professor recognized the importance of this class to the students concerning each of the students field of interest. Eventhough some of the students fields of interest did not have x-ray diffraction included in the "must know" catergory he did not punish them for their lack of interest. He realized that for most people this will be the last time that x-ray diffraction will be exposed to them. I was thankful he could see that.

  • The concepts were very interesting and I can see their relevance in the materials engineering field.

  • The prof. was very stundent friendly, and willing to take time to discuss topics with the students.

  • The professor has a good understanding of the course material, and takes the time to fully answer any questions the students may have.

  • The professor showed that he reallt cared about his students and was willing to help, listen and talk at any time

  • While the course material was quite complex, the professor would explain it in a simpler form as to give everyone the gist of what was happening, ony then did he continue with more complex ideas and concepts.

  • works with students

    2) Describe at least one improvement you feel would benefit this course or professor.

  • slightly better organization skills

  • 1 quiz every other week. not enough emphasis on material, too much emph on quizzes

  • Better lab

  • Describe how x-ray diffraction relates to metals a little better

  • I think the course, as taught by this professor, is very well structures and I cannot think of an improvement at this time.

  • Mandatory homework assignments would force the students to learn the course material indepth. Large assignments are not needed, just a few questions concerning relevent material.

  • Some of the topics could have been expressed more clearly. Not everything was readily understandable.

    3) If your answer to any question between #1 and #17 was `D' or `E', please identify the question number and explain why.
